From Farm to Market, A Tale of Love and Nuts
Welcome to G-Nuts, where roasted and candied walnuts are our passion! Seeking to share a family tradition of homemade candied walnuts with their community, Gary and Lisa Benton founded G-Nuts in March of 2023 and began selling their treats at local farmers markets.
At G-Nuts, we pride ourselves on sourcing the finest walnuts for our delightful confections. Our home orchard, planted in 1997, and a neighboring orchard planted by Gary in 2006 serve as the origin point for all our walnuts. Our orchards provide for the highest quality product, resulting in unmatched flavor in each of our handcrafted sweets.
Gary’s agricultural roots run deep. During his upbringing in Visalia, CA, Gary discovered an affinity for farming as he watched his parents farm a number of crops to include vegetables, cotton, and walnuts. In 1984, Gary tried his hands at harvesting walnuts. Finding a passion for his work, in 1989 Gary established a custom walnut harvesting service and cemented what is now a decades-long dedication to the cultivation and care of this wonderful nut. More than a simple profession, farming is Gary’s family legacy.
Over the years, that legacy has grown to include Gary’s two sons, his wife Lisa and her two sons, four daughters-in-law, and six enthusiastic grandchildren! Married in 2013, Gary and Lisa very much cherish their blended family and immerse themselves in the joy and inspiration their children and grandchildren spark. G-Nuts in not only about walnuts, but also a celebration of love and family.
In a single cooking vessel, Lisa brings her culinary expertise to bear. Combining the highest-quality ingredients, she handcrafts the most delicious and unique flavors of candied walnuts, one 3-pound batch of nuts at a time. Lisa is driven by a passion for feeding family, friends, and strangers alike, always amazed and delighted at the spark of joy in peoples’ eyes as they take bite of her mouthwatering treats!
Gary and Lisa have been happily married since 2013, and together, they have created a beautiful blended family and added to the legacy Lisa's two boys. They very much cherish their rapidly growing blended family. Gary and Lisa's family has grown to include four daughter-in-law’s and six adorable grandchildren. These little ones add an extra layer of joy and inspiration to G-Nuts, reminding us why we put our hearts into everything we do. It is a strong testament that G-Nuts isn't just about walnuts; it's also a celebration of love and family.
Lisa brings her culinary expertise to the table. She handcrafts, in only one pot, the most delectable candied walnuts. She creates several unique flavors in small 3lb batches using only the finest ingredients. The joy on customers' faces when they taste these mouthwatering treats never fails to amaze her. Lisa has always had a passion for feeding people and G-Nuts is an extension of this.
Gary’s mother, MaryAnn, nurtured a love for local produce and community connections that Gary carries forward today. She co-founded the local Visalia, CA farmers market back in 1975. During the holidays, MaryAnn, would sell her candied walnuts at the market.
